Food in Focus Contest and Project

The Italian American Committee on Education (IACE) and Eataly New York invite students in the Italian language program to participate in the initiative “Food in Focus,” a photography contest.

IACE students are encouraged to submit photos taken with a smartphone. The image should depict Italian cuisine, from simple, quality ingredients to beautiful, plated dishes.

The contest judge will be Francesco Tonelli, a renowned Italian cookbook author and food photographer. His evaluation will be based on favoring the “appetite appeal” vs. the “graphic” nature of the photos.

Each student may submit up to three photos by emailing photos@iacelanguage.org with the subject line “Food in Focus.”
Please CC Ms. Laricchia on the email (LaricchiaLAG@gmail.com)
Students can also post their photos on Instagram with the hashtag #FoodInFocus IACE Link, however, you MUST email your entry and CC Ms. Laricchia so that she knows that you submitted an entry.
Please also write in your email that you are a student at  LaGuardia High School and that Ms. Laricchia is your teacher.

DEADLINE: May 31, 2016

The top 30 photos will be printed and shown in an exhibition at Eataly. The top three photos will be awarded with these prizes:
  • Dinner for four people at Eataly’s fine-dining restaurant, Manzo
  • Tasting tour of Eataly led by a brand ambassador for four people
  • Eataly gift box, filled with delicious high-quality products directly imported from Italy.
Please email Ms. Laricchia if you have any questions about this contest at LaricchiaLAG@gmail.com.
